Sometimes, a simple change in cabinet hardware or lighting can transform a space. They are essential needs yet they can boost the ambiance and complement various design styles. Often times people believe they should stick to the same metal finish for their lighting and hardware. Truth is, you can mix metals, however, it is best to mix metals that are not from the same family color, for example, brass and black, silver or gold, or black and silver. These combos always look good together and they don’t clash as if you were mixing two different tones of gold.

I partnered with Wayfair to style several rooms in our home and in this blog post, I am sharing a few favorites that I love and recommend. For my closet, we chose this semi-flush mount fixture. The shape is perfect, the metal finish matches the hardware and the size fits so nicely since I added 3 in the same room. The hardware is unique and it adds the perfect amount of charm to the room.

Laundry Room

For our laundry, we chose this beautiful 3 light hand-woven rattan fixture that brings a cozy coastal vibe to the space. The hardware also came from Wayfair. I ended up mixing the hardware style to add depth and personality to the space. Even though they are not from the same collection, they are from the same brand and all the finishes are the same, so you can safely play with it.

Guest Bedroom

Our guest bedroom puts on a show with probably my favorite wall sconces in our home. These sconces are the ultimate touch of charm and character. They are so affordable and it is one of my all time best sellers. We added a fabric drum light fixture in the ceiling with a very unique silhouette to create the perfect ambiance for our guests.
