Cozy Living Room
Hello friends!
I am excited to share with you some details about our living room. This is a room I spent quite some time putting together, as I wanted to create an inviting and cozy room for our family and friends. We didn’t have any living room furniture when we moved-in (back in 2016) and the first thing I shopped for was a couch. We ended up buying one at Wayfair. It was a beautiful tufted couch, and I also purchased a matching ottoman, a chaise lounge and an accent chair. The room looked great, but it wasn’t cozy at all. The couch wasn’t roomy and it wouldn’t be ideal for a family with two little ones. Oh boy! I knew myself, and I knew I didn’t want to keep that setup. But who wants to return big furniture? The good news is that we were able to sell locally, for less money obviously, and quickly sold the pieces. The only thing I kept was the ottoman, which is in our basement now. At the time, West Elm was offering up to 30% off discount on purchases of $2500 or more. We knew we wanted to have a sectional, as it would be more comfortable for the 4 of us. We found the best one there. It was big and spacious, yet sleek and elegant. We chose the Twill Stone color and I love it. I didn’t want a dark couch, but it has some dark treads in it just enough not to show any dirt.
The reclining leather chair is also from West Elm and Jaksa loves it! It’s super comfortable and it does adds some character to the room. The rug is from Crate & Barrel. I wanted to add a pop of color to our living room and I’m glad I chose this eggplant color. It’s not too dark and it goes well with our pillows. I love the contrast of grey (from the couch), purple (rug and pillows) and the cognac (recliner). The pillows are from Z Gallerie and they are super well made. The floor lamp is from Wayfair. It’s definitely a different lamp and we get lots of complement on it. The shelves are from Etsy. They are super sturdy reclaimed wood and come with all the hardware. I decided to add two shelves on each side of the wall and that was time consuming for me, as I wanted to make sure they would all be symmetrical. But if you have a handyman at home, it won’t take long 😊
The wooden TV console was an online purchase and honestly, I cannot remember where I purchased from nor find any info about it. The sofa console table behind the couch is a Tjmaxx find. All the small décor pieces are linked for you under my shop tab.
My favorite part of this whole room is our fireplace. I love the way it turned out. It’s very easy to put together as the wood pieces are easily connected to one another. I used construction glue to create this look and I bought this reclaimed wood from Etsy. It does add some warmth to the room, and I love the rustic look as well.
Our zebra faces were the last pieces we added to the room. We had this big empty wall for 3 years and just this past summer (2019) we found this beautiful carved decor in New Buffalo Michigan on a family vacation trip. Lastly, the fire place screen is from Crate & Barrel. It’s has antique brass finish and I love the mid-century modern style look.
And that’s all Folks! I hope you enjoy our living room and find some useful ideas for your home!
Beijos!
